It's Thanksgiving night. You've told your relatives to go home, except for your crazy sister. The dishes are stacked up in the sink ready to be washed on Friday afternoon. You have your attractive sports outfit on, your runnings shoes, and your commuter mug is filled with coffee.

That time-honored tradition of "Black Friday" begins on Thanksiving night at some stores, and midnight on Friday at many others. Thanksgiving (Thursday) Eve

• Toys 'R Us stores open at 10 p.m.

Westfield/Chicago Ridge Mall - 12 midnight

Whether you call the mall at 95th Street and Ridgeland Avenue "the Westfield Mall" or are a member of the "I Still Call It the Chicago Ridge Mall" Facebook group, more than 40 stores are participating in the mall's Black Friday Midnight opening.

To lure in shoppers, Westfield Mall's Black Friday Midnight opening features a DJ spinning holiday tunes in Kohl's court. Sleep-deprived shoppers can also enter to win five fabulous prizes, including a 3D HDTV, iPad 2, PlayStation 3, COACH purse and a$500 Westfield Gift Card, that will be given away every hour between 1 and 5 a.m.

Watch for the mall elf, too. She'll be handing out $20 Westfield Gift Cards to eight different shoppers that can present a sales receipt of $200 or more. Shoppers can track her movements throughout on the mall on the Westfield Chicago Ridge Facebook page.
