Oak Lawn Jobs Program Hosts Presentation This Thursday

Oak Lawn Jobs is open for business. Trades presentation planned at Oak Lawn Community High School for 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Smart, hardworking high school seniors and recent high school graduates who reside in Oak Lawn are invited to a trades presentation at Oak Lawn Community High School this Thursday, Dec. 12.

Oak Lawn Trustee (Dist. 1) Tim Desmond envisioned an Oak Lawn Jobs Program with a goal of assisting current and recent Oak Lawn high school seniors and graduates in jumpstarting their careers with local businesses.

The first-ever trades presentation is the combined effort of Tr. Desmond and community volunteers. Union representatives from the plumbers, carpenters, bricklayers, laborers, and electrical trades will be on hand to explain what an apprenticeship program is and how to apply.

The presentation is directed toward Oak Lawn residents ages 17-24, who are not planning to attend a four-year college.

Local businesses interested in offering apprenticeships and internships for high school seniors and recent high school graduates should contact Tr. Tim Desmond at tdesmond@oaklawn-il.gov, or Josh Jones, assistant village manager, at jsjones@oaklanw-il.gov.

Oak Lawn Jobs' trades presentation kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the media room at Oak Lawn Community High School, located at 9400 Southwest Highway. Information about parking and a map of the school are included.
