Oak Lawn Kicks Off Yuletide Season Wtih Small Biz Saturday, Santa On the Green Today

Oak Lawn kicks off the Yuletide season with a holiday doubleheader starting with Small Business Saturday followed by Santa On the Green starting at noon today (Nov. 24).

Oak Lawn residents will be treated to a holiday doubleheader on Saturday when Santa is due to arrive on the Village Green and shoppers can “shop small” until they drop.

Starting at noon a free trolley will be circulating through the 95th Street business district between Cicero and Ridgeland Avenues for Oak Lawn’s first-ever “Small Business Saturday” local shopping event promoting the village’s independently owned shops and restaurants.

The free trolley will be making stops at 21 businesses, as well as picking up passengers at Santa On the Green. Look for the Small Business Saturday volunteers or stop by the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce table for a free trolley map during Santa On the Green. The event runs from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 24).

Santa On the Green

You better watch out, and you better not cry, 'cos Santa is riding in on an Oak Lawn fire truck to the Village Green, taking orders from good girls and boys, starting at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Oak Lawn's annual "Santa On the Green" has become a beloved holiday tradition for area families, featuring free rides, games and acitivities for children. The holiday celebration is FREE.

Santa On the Green runs from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24. See the complete schedule of activities below:

Noon – 4 p.m.A free trolley will be picking up and dropping off visitors at the village green for Oak Lawn’s first-ever “Small Business Saturday” local shopping event. The trolley will be making designated stops at local businesses on 95th Street between Cicero and Ridgeland Avenues.

1 p.m. – Mini-parade from Oak Lawn police station at 9466 S. Raymond Ave. to the Gazebo. Santa, Mrs. Claus and Frosty will arrive atop a village fire engine.

1 to 5 p.m. – Come visit Santa and the gang in the Gazebo. Santa will taking kids orders and posing for pictures, so bring your camera.

1 to 5 p.m.Warm up inside the hospitality tent for some face-painting and free hot chocolate, eggnog and cookies.

1 to 5 p.m. – Free children’s rides and games.

2 to 3 p.m. – Christmas Carols by the Kolmar Elementary School Choir.

Oak Lawn's Village Green is located at Cook Avenue and Dumke Drive, north of the Oak Lawn Public Library.

The Popeye's in Burbank has a hand sanitizer installed behind the counter, but honestly, the employees hardly ever use it, which is why, after a horrible experience at that location last July, I have not patronized ANY Popeye's since!!!
