The Best Taco in Oak Lawn: You Decide

Help us decide who dishes the tastiest taco.

It’s time for another Chowdown Showdown, our new weekly feature that will not only give you great ideas on where to eat, but will allow you to tell everyone why your favorite restaurant is the best.

The Chowdown Showdown pits PalosEvergreen Park and Oak Lawn restaurants against each other to decide who makes a particular dish best. Before the competition starts, we need your ideas on who our Oak Lawn representative should be.

READ:

This week's feature focuses in on the delectable Mexican food that a lot of us have eaten late at night from a drive-thru window. We want you to tell us who puts together the best example of this treat. The local winner will then go on to face Palos and Evergreen Park.

How to Vote

There are three ways to vote for your favorite.

  1. Leave a comment on this article and tell us your pick and why you think they are the best.
  2. Find your pick in our Oak Lawn Places Directory and leave a review and tell the world just how good their pepper and egg sandwiches are.
  3. Go to the Oak Lawn Patch Facebook Page and tell us your pick.

Get your votes in by Monday at 10 a.m. We will announce the winner and share the results of our taste test on Wednesday.

That's Not All . . .

Jalisco Express at 10846 S Cicero. Pork tacos, steak tacos, chicken tacos. I really think it's the best flavor, best service, best price. You watch the man make your food right there. It's small, it's not fancy but they know what they're doing. Also my favorite guacamole is there.

THE best taco is in Bridgeview at El Tizon which is at 9014 S. Harlem Avenue. My two favorites are the steak taco and the chile relleno taco. My next blog post will be about El Tizon.

Jalisco Express by far. Great food, great service, friendly cook/staff, and the best Pico De Gallo I've ever had. Hands down.

Re: Mother 24's final comment on food handlers hand washing, is there an ordinance requiring hotRead More water in restrooms.? Many have only cold water in both faucets or verrrryyyy slow to respond hot water faucets. This should be a point of inspection for the health inspector (s.) Phinnigin

Re:Phinnigin. I agree!! Most establishments do not have hot water in the restrooms!!! However, whyRead More can't restaurants install hand sanitizer behind the counter? The Popeye's in Burbank has a hand sanitizer installed behind the counter, but honestly, the employees hardly ever use it, which is why, after a horrible experience at that location last July, I have not patronized ANY Popeye's since!!!
