“Everyone relies on their electronics so much these days, especially their phones,” Schultz said. “If we have the part we can get you going in a half hour.”

Most of the repairs Schultz sees are for broken glass screens on all variety of smartphones and tablets, water damage and power issues.

UBreakIFix also fixes a lot of overheated video game consoles. The store offers free estimates; if the customer decides the device isn't worth fixing or can't afford the repair, there is no charge for the examination. Most smartphone repairs range between $30 and $100. If the customer finds a better estimate, UBreakIFix will match it.

If your PlayStation or Xbox console overheats or the drive stops working, UBreakIFix can save you from having to buy a new one. Game console repairs top out at $150.

Is it worth getting your devices fixed?

“It’s all about reuse,” Schultz said. “I would rather do that instead of paying $200 or more for a new one.”

UBreakIFix is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday; and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The shop is located at 5138 W. 95th St. Parking is available behind the store. For more info, call 708-907-5438 or email at oaklawn@UBreakIFix.com.
