Worth Taking Apps for Police Officer and MORE LOCAL JOBS

With the Illinois’s unemployment rate hovering at around 8.8 percent, jobs are hard to find but they’re out there.

Village of Worth

The Village of Worth is hiring a police officer. Applications for the police officer can be picked up at the Worth village clerk’s office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 7112 W. 111th St., Worth.

The applications must be completed and returned no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2.

A $30 non-fundable fee must be paid at the time of picking up the application packet.
Orientation is at 7 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Rosemary Lucas Administration Center located at 11218 S. Ridgeland.

The physical agility and written test starts at 8 a.m. Nov. 10, at Worth Junior High School, at 11151 S. New England. The written test will follow the physical agility test.

Applicants must be able to meet the following requirements:

• Minimum 21 - 35 years of age (unless otherwise provided by Statue)
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver’s License
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Applicant must pass agility, written, oral, physical, psychological examination and polygraph test.

The starting salary for the police officer’s position is $46,689. The village also offers such benefits as hospitalization insurance, life insurance, uniform allowance, paid vacation, sick days and a pension plan.

Andy’s Frozen Custard

Andy’s Frozen Custard in Oak Lawn is seeking an assistant manager and shift supervisor to dish out delicious frozen treats. Interested applicants can apply online and submit their resumes on Andy’s website.

TelAssist

TelAssist—based in Oak Lawn—supports other business by providing customer support and telephone answering services 24/7. Job applicants must be able to work weekends and major holidays. TelAssist promotes from within. Jobs are permanent not “temp jobs.” The company holds four open houses a week, but interested applicants are invited to apply in person from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasionally, it will be possible to receive an interview on the spot. TelAssist is located at 6417 W. 87th St., Oak Lawn. The office is on the southwest corner of 87th Street and Ridgeland Avenue. Target

Target announced last month that it would hire 90,000 hourly, store associates nationwide for the upcoming holiday shopping season. Last year, about 2,000 hourly workers were hired permanently. The retailer is accepting applications online. There is a Target store at 4120 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn, and other nearby communities.

Pace Bus

Pace has a variety of openings for managers, administrative, support staff, mechanics and part- and full-time bus operators as of Oct. 19.  We saw several job openings in the southwest suburbs as well as in the northwest suburbs.
