On November 11, 2013, The Village of Oak Lawn partnered with District 123 to observe Veterans Day together at the Veterans Memorial on the Village Green. The OLHMS Chorus paid tribute through their songs as officials spoke to them about the importance of understanding what Veterans have done for us in the past and what they mean to our future.
After the Village Green observance, the audience moved across the street to the Johnson-Phelps VFW hall where the OLHMS Concert Band was waiting to perform. Students had the opportunity to tell stories about those men and women in their lives that have served our country through the years. The band concluded the ceremony with their rendition of The Gettysberg Address.
