District 123 Welcomes Veterans

OLHMS students, staff and Oak Lawn and Hometown Village officials celebrate local Veterans.

Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle school held its annual Veterans Day ceremony this past Friday. Students honored local veterans with a all-school assembly and ceremony. While the OLHMS band played a variety of patriotic compositions, students were given a lesson in sacrifice, freedom and what it means to be an American.

Each Veteran that entered OLHMS was handed a rose and thanked for their service by OLHMS students and staff. Along with remarks from Oak Lawn Mayor Bury, OLHMS Principal Nicole Leggett, and former OLHMS teacher and veteran Ed Sifling, students and special guests listened to speeches prepared by OLHMS students.
