Healthy Start at Hometown School

Do you know how to de-stress?  Or what to do if you get a spider bite?  How about the correct way to cross the street?

On October 4th, Hometown 2nd and 3rd graders participated in the Traveling 8th Grade Health Fair.  Students learned about 50 various health related topics including bike safety, exercise, nutrition, fire safety, and street smarts.

Eighth graders from OLHMS took 17 days of class time to research and prepare their presentations, combined with an accompanying activity that would add "fun" to the booth.  Each 2nd and 3rd grader received a passport that kept track of all the booths they visited by collecting stickers.

Next time you have any health related questions, ask your 2nd or 3rd grader…they just may have the answer!
