March Madness for OLHMS Performing Arts!

On Saturday, March 8, 2014, the OLHMS Concert Chorus received a Division One rating at the District VI - Illinois Grade School Music Association competition!  The contest was held at Colin Powell Middle School, in Matteson, IL.  This Division One rating allows the Concert Chorus to participate in State competition on April 26, in Joliet, IL.

Then again, we heard the excitement on Saturday, March 15, as the OLHMS Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble performed for the Illinois Grade School Music Association District Band Contest.  Both OLHMS ensembles had outstanding performances, earning a Division One rating and being invited to perform at the IGSMA State Contest on April 26 (Concert Band) and May 3 (Jazz Ensemble).

Another bit of news . . . the Concert Chorus has been asked to sing the National Anthem for the "Chicago Sky" Women's Basketball team, on May 21, at the Allstate Arena.  Needless to say, the Chorus is excited to take part in this event!

Congratulations to OLHMS Concert Chorus, Concert Band, and Jazz Ensemble! And we can't forget Virginia Ebner (Chorus Director), Beth Lyons (Concert Director), and John Kehl (Jazz Director) for all their hard work as well.
