Why Don't YOU Vote?

An honest and respectful (please) discussion of voter apathy.

It's been a week since 20 percent of us went to the polls and elected the people who will be controlling our tax dollars. During this week, I went to the cemetery for a visit. While I was there, I noticed a grave with numerous Marine and American flags. I walked over to pay my respects to the patriot buried in the grave and was shocked to see it was a young patriot. Only twenty-two years  of a life lived. I wondered, was this young man as excited about getting his voting card as he was about getting his learner's permit at 16 or having his first drink at 18? If he was still here, would he have sacrificed the few minutes to go vote like he sacrificed his life for your right to vote? There's voter apathy at every election. I personally don't understand why you would want to give up what is your Right as an American citizen? As Americans, we fight for our rights yet, for 80 percent, the right to have a say in our government isn't important. Can you explain to me why the sacrifice of this young patriot and the thousands of others like him doesn't spur you to respect the privilege of voting?
