A tanker truck The Tri-State was shut for several hours on Tuesday, not seen since C.W. McCall’s one-hit wonder "Convoy."

Carol Ellis Sheahan – “My friend was trapped on 294 for 5.5 hours with a 7yr old, 6yr old and a one-year old. No food, no "potty", almost out of gas, etc. She said it was just awful!”

Christina Pender – “You want a horror story I'll give you a horror story! I was coming home from school (Lewis University) and I left at 2 o clock. Normally it takes me about 30-45 minutes to get to Oak Lawn by taking 55 to 294. What I thought would be a normal typical trip turned into a horrible nightmare! I got to a little bit before the toll on 294 and  traffic was at a halt! I mean VERY VERY slowly moving. It took me 3 and a half hours to get from the sign that says hickory hills this exit and oak lawn next exit ! 3 and half hours !! and I was less than a mile away!!! It was ridiculous. Everybody was frustrated there was cars driving on the shoulders complete chaos. Lets just say by the time I got home (in oak lawn) it was 630 and I was not a happy camper . All of this just to go VOTE !”

Paco Comes Home

Paco the Chihuahua returned home after being missing for three days. His owner Joann Waters-Figueroa said that on Wednesday, Paco was barking at their front door. Nobody knows what Paco was up to during the three days he was gone, but we hope he found himself.

Dave Bagus – “Did he vote?”

Tonia Lorenz – “Not only did he vote, he was driving the van that caused the tanker accident.”

Jacqueline Amelio – “A truck driver friend mentioned tonight that a Chihuahua was running down busy Western Ave south [Tuesday] … had traffic stopped as the lil guy was running center of the lanes ..maybe it was Paco?”

Does Oak Lawn Have Too Many Lawyers?

Seems like the Trustee Carol Quinlan (Dist. 5) questioned the transparency in which the change was made, stating that she had to call the village manager to clarify his “convoluted email.” According to state law, under the managerial form of government,

Stosh – “They have more attorneys than the Cook County States Attorneys Office. When you are involved in illegal activity you need to surround yourself with a lot of attorneys.”

JR - After all of the past issues related to hiring attorneys in the Village, complete transparency is needed. Deetjen's tactics are anything but transparent. And if Tom Phelan doesn't want to sit through competitive bidding process, then he does not belong in government.

Linda – “If the attorneys handling our affairs are moving, and keeping the cost the same, what's the problem? They are already up to speed on the cases and have our best interest in mind. I think the action makes sense. It's hard to say if the trustees could have been informed earlier if everything moved so quickly. It is important that they be in the know at all times.”
