Ashes To Go

On Ash Wednesday, February 13, Pilgrim Faith United Church of Christ of Oak Lawn will offer “Ashes to Go” at the Oak Lawn train station during the morning commute.  Pastor Peggy McClanahan will impose ashes on the foreheads of any who wish to receive it, assisted by Joe Wachowski and Ron Stancik.

“Pilgrim Faith has planned this as a way to reach out to people who may want ashes but be unable to go to church.  It is a wonderful way to take the church to the community!” said McClanahan.

Pastor McClanahan will be distributing ashes at the station from 6:30 until 8:15 am.

Pilgrim Faith will also offer an Ash Wednesday service at 7:00 p.m. at the church at 9411 S. 51st Avenue.  That service includes times of reflection, confession and communion around the theme “Relish the Feast.”  It is an invitation to feast on God’s goodness and relish God’s good gifts during Lent.  The evening service does not include imposition of ashes.
