Food/School Supply Drive extended for Together We Cope

The food pantry at Together We Cope continues to struggle with low food supplies, and Holistic Happenings Healing Center and Diana’s Kitchen, both of Tinley Park, have agreed to continue their partnership into the month of September.  In late July, Holistic Happenings chose Together We Cope as their ‘charity of the month’ for August and served as a drop off location for food and school supply donations.  Those who dropped off three or more non-perishable food items during the month of August received a coupon for a free 12-ounce smoothie at Diana’s Kitchen, which is just 2 miles away.  Donators had their choice of selecting a wide variety of smoothie flavors. 

Together We Cope (17010 S. Oak Park Ave. in Tinley Park) provides food, clothing, and financial assistance in times of crisis to eligible residents of Bremen, Orland, Palos, and Worth Townships.  Their food pantry staff is requesting help with the following:

  • Baby Products-Baby diapers (especially sizes 4, 5 and 6)
  • Canned Fruit and Vegetables   
  • Canned Juices (All Sizes)
  • Canned Meat and Tuna
  • Cereal
  • Gift Cards
  • Household Paper Products (plates, towels, toilet paper)
  • Mac and Cheese                       
  • Men's and Women's Personal Care Items
  • Pasta                                            
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly
  • Rice (1 pound sizes)                 
  • Spaghetti Sauce

 

Holistic Happenings have been making weekly deliveries to Together We Cope, and have used any monetary donations to shop for food for the pantry.  All proceeds from their book sales are used to purchase food, and the public is welcome to stop in and browse their selection.  A free smoothie coupon for Diana's Kitchen will still be given to anyone who drops off 3 or more non-perishable food items.  Holistic Happenings Healing Center is located at 7925 W. 171st. Street and their hours are Monday through Saturday from 11am to 7pm.  Please drop off non-perishable food items during normal business hours.

Diana’s Kitchen is located at 16707 Oak Park Avenue in the Ace Hardware Plaza and their hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11am to 9pm, Friday and Saturday 11am to 10pm, and Sunday from 11am to 7pm.  They are closed on Mondays. 

Holistic Happenings Healing Center is also accepting school supplies on behalf of Together We Cope.  The following items have been requested:

  • Spiral notebooks (wide ruled)
  • Notebook paper (wide ruled)
  • Two-pocket folders
  • Pens (black, blue, and red)
  • Scissors (pointed tip)
  • Rulers
  • Soft erasers
  • Pencil Boxes
  • #2 pencils
  • 24-count boxed crayons
  • Colored pencils
  • Markers (washable)
  • Glue sticks
