"Design A Green Scene" Winners Announced

High school and grammar school students presented with prizes in Green Team 2013 design contest.

Mayor Dave Heilmann presented the 2013 Green Team "Design a Green Scene" contest winners with their prizes at the April 23 Oak Lawn Village Board meeting.

Village assistant Carmie O'Leary said the Green Team design contest has become so popular that members divided the contest into two age groups.

Oak Lawn Community High School seniors Erin Pratl, Majed Swies and Madison Geraghty copped top honors for their tote bag designs. The students won prizes of $100, $50 and $25 for first, second and third place, respectively.

Grammar school students from Oak Lawn parochial and public schools submitted entries for T-shirt designs.

  • Keagan Lenz, eighth-grade, St. Germaine School, first-place
  • Cindy Rubio, seventh-grade, St. Germaine School, second place
  • Kathleen Janiga, eighth-grade, St. Catherine of Alexandria

The grammer students won $100, $50 and $25 prizes, respectively.
