Oak Lawn became a winter wonderland over Thanksgiving weekend with two community events that got everyone into the holiday spirit.

Children visited with the North Pole’s power couple, Santa and Mrs. Claus, on the Village Green on Saturday. Too bad retired Oak Lawn police officer Dennis Kitching missed Santa’s arrival again this year.

Then on Sunday, Kenwood Wine and Liquors surprised everyone by bringing the Budweiser Clydesdales to 108th Street and Cicero Avenue. The majestic horses ferried residents around the neighborhood on free carriage rides.

Readers shared their photos of these memorable events.
