He's Back! Santa On the Green Kicks Off this Saturday

Yay! Santa's back, and he's coming to the Village Green this Saturday.

Santa’s back and he’s bring the Missus just in time for the holiday season.

Oak Lawn’s annual “Santa On the Green” yuletide bash kicks off this Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. And it's all FREE.

Santa, Mrs. Claus, Frosty the Snowman, and his unidentified girlfriend from last year, will arrive on a firetruck piloted by an Oak Lawn firefighter for a mini-parade to the gazebo.

The family-friendly holiday festival features horse-drawn sleigh rides, the Polar Express choo-choo train and caroling by the Kolmar and Sward School choruses. If it gets too cold, huddle up in the heated hospitality tent for some complimentary cookies and eggnog. The kids sing from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m.

Our old friends, the Elf and Toy Soldier stilt walkers, will also be making the rounds confusing two-year-olds with their profoundly long legs.

All Around Amusements will also be selling funnel cakes and hot chocolate. And while you’re there, look for the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce and pick up your free “Oak Lawn Shop Local” holiday shopping guide.

Santa will be taking children’s orders and posing for pictures in the gazebo from 1 to 5 p.m., so bring your camera. Mrs. Claus will be doling out the candy canes.

Saturday's weather forecast calls for sunny skies and temperatures in the low forties.

This entire event is FREE and hosted by the Village of Oak Lawn and the Oak Lawn Special Events Committee.

The Village Green is located north of the Oak Lawn Public Library at 94th & Cook Avenue.
