Book Buzz Kicked Off Teen Read Week at Oak Lawn Community High School

Book Buzz has become a favorite tradition at Oak Lawn Community High School.  Media Center specialist Eileen Jones creates movie trailers of selected novels to be shown during Stop, Drop, and Read.  The trailers prove to be an effective way to entice students to read and participate in Teen Read Week.  To kick off Teen Read Week, the Media Center introduced its book club choice on Tuesday, September 24, during Stop, Drop, and Read.  This semester’s book club novel is Divergent by Veronica Roth. Students who love dystopian adventures such as The Hunger Games will be drawn to Divergent. This high-interest book will be coming to theaters this spring, and will be filmed in Chicago, where the book takes place.  The first 25 students who went to the Media Center after school received a free copy of the book.
