Dance Team Serves the Homeless

The Oak Lawn Community High School dance team embodies the spirit of giving.  On February 9, 2014, the team visited the Urban Ministries Men’s Shelter, a homeless shelter in Chicago. The students donated men’s clothing, blankets, hats, scarves and gloves.  In addition, the students served 40 men dinner with donations from Portillo’s Beef, Season’s 52 mashed potatoes, Lone Star Steakhouse baked potatoes, and bakery cakes.  Some impromptu entertainment even took place, including dancing, piano playing and singing.  The men praised the lady Spartans for their friendliness, maturity and confidence.  The girls found the experience to be so rewarding that they plan to go back in two weeks.
