Manga Madness in the Media Center!

The Oak Lawn Community High School Anime Sci-Fi Club and the media center recently hosted the annual extravaganza that celebrates all things anime and manga! There were art stations, three different gaming areas, and a scavenger hunt to encourage attendees to visit each station.  Anime Sci-Fi Club Sponsor Jamie Atkus, conducted a rice ball station requiring the students to made Japanese ‘mochi’ cookies. The cookies were a huge hit.

Over 40 students pulled out all the stops making this year’s event bigger and bolder than ever. Students conducted an elaborate skit that involved storming the media center from every entrance while delighting the students from Oak Lawn Hometown Middle School and Simmons Middle School. OLHMS Librarian Kathleen Spedale stated, “For the students in Readers' Cafe at OLHMS, Mangapolis is the highlight of the year.”

The Anime Sci-Fi Club meets after school every Thursday in Room 107 with club adviser, Mrs. Jamie Atkus.
