While the highlight of the 2013 spring season for Oak Lawn Community High School’s baseball team was winning the South Suburban Conference Red Title last school year, the accomplishments just keep on coming. The Spartans were recognized by the Illinois High School Association with the Team Academic Award.
The award is given to teams that earn a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Several players led the way by earning a 4.0. Those players were Bob Kametas, Connor Niemiec, and Mitch Swatek. Three players were knocking on the door of a 4.0 in Lorenzo Gudino, Marcin Krzysiak, and Matt Dunne.
The Oak Lawn baseball team certainly lived up to the title of student athletes excelling in the classroom and on the playing field.
