Volleyball's Bradshaw Nets "Player of the Year" Award

When looking back on the Fall Sports season at Oak Lawn Community High School, several highlights come to mind including a South Suburban Conference Red Player of the Year, an SSC Red Coach of the Year, a State Qualifier, All-Regional golfers, and many, many more outstanding performances.

In Volleyball, the team brought home the conference championship, and Senior Becky Bradshaw earned honors as the SSC Red Player of the Year for her outstanding performance during the season. She also claimed the team’s Most Valuable Player Award. Tara Hill was named as the Sportsmanship Award winner. All-Conference selections included Bradshaw, Christina Egan, Simona Tomczak, and Brianna Markusic. Tracy Peck was Honorable Mention. Head Coach Dennis MacNamara was named SSC Red Coach of the Year as well.

In Girls Tennis, Alexis Fletcher crushed the competition and advanced all the way to the IHSA State Finals. She shared team MVP honors with Paulina Kotwica, while Emily Salomone and Azizza Hasan earned the Sportsmanship Award. Fletcher and Kotwica each garnered all-conference selections too.

In Girls Swimming, the Spartans won the conference championship with some strong performances in the pool. The team was led by Co-MVPs Yara Ismail and Hannah Featherstone, while senior Kelsey Townsend was the Sportsmanship Award winner. All-conference selections came via the 200 Medley Relay team of Featherstone, Townsend, Shannon Mottl, and Mary Kate Brennan and the 200 Free Relay team of Featherstone, Brennan, Ismail, and Samantha Lopez.

In Boys Golf, Joe Cuculich and Brandon Murley both shot well enough to be recognized as All-Regional golfers. Cuculich was named the team MVP and claimed all-conference honors, while Sean Baldwin was the Sportsmanship Award winner.

In Girls Cross Country, the Spartans also found a lot of success as Jasmin Pelaez and freshman Jessica Sciaky both qualified for the IHSA Sectional Meet. Pelaez was named team MVP, while Gabrielle Lenihan was named as the Sportsmanship Award winner. 

In Boys Cross Country, the team earned the SSC Sportsmanship Award, Nick Minnella was named team MVP, and Jake Kupres got the Sportsmanship Award. All-conference selections included Minella, Rich Willis, and Luis Garcia.

In Football, Raekwon Howard and Joe Cosenza shared team MVP honors and Kyle Kuzur was named for the Sportsmanship Award. All-conference selections included Cosenza and Howard, while Ed Trybula was Honorable Mention.

In Boys Soccer, Richard Alcantar was the team MVP and Omar Lopez was the Sportsmanship Award winner. Konrad Nykiel and Alcantar were all-conference selections, and Giovanni Barragan and Michal Szaflarski were Honorable Mention.
