Funeral Arrangements Set for Slain Oak Lawn Family

Visitation will be joint for the grandparents and their son, at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home. The couple's 5-year-old grandson will have a separate visitation.

Funeral services have been planned for four family members who died last week in a triple murder and suicide in Oak Lawn.

Visitation for John C. Conta, 67, his wife Janice Conta, 68, and their son John P. Conta, 36, will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd St. in Oak Lawn. A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Linus Church, 10300 Lawler Ave., Oak Lawn, followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Visitation for the couple's grandson Matthew Meier, 5, will held from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Sheehy Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st St. in Orland Park. A funeral service is set for 9:30 a.m. Friday at Living Word Lutheran Church, 16301 Wolf Road in Orland Park, followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

John P. Conta is believed to have gunned down his parents and nephew before turning the gun on himself and setting ablaze the home in the 9800 block of 51st Avenue on Feb. 26.

Family members gathered in the home the evening before to celebrate Matthew’s fifth birthday. His mother left later in the evening and Matthew stayed behind to spend the night at his grandparents'.
