Dip, Sip and Tweet: Argo Tea to Warm Up Polar Plunge Participants with Hot Tea and Host Twitter Contest to Encourage Support of Special Olympics Chicago

Argo Tea is proud to be the official hot beverage sponsor of the 14th Annual Chicago Polar Plunge. If anticipated temperatures are any indication, thousands of Chicagoans will be in need of warmth while supporting their CommuniTEA this weekend at North Avenue Beach. On Sunday, March 2, more than 2,500 brave participants – including Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Jimmy Fallon, and Argo Tea CEO Arsen Avakian – will be present to take a dip in Chicago’s Lake Michigan to benefit Special Olympics Chicago.

To inspire others to join in support of this landmark Chicago fundraiser, Argo Tea will give free tea to the first 312 (Chicago’s area code) people who tweet to @argotea using the #argoteaplunge hashtag with a positive message about the Chicago community or Special Olympics Chicago. For each winning tweet, Argo Tea will additionally reward a free tea to a local Special Olympian. Argo Tea encourages everyone to share support of fellow Polar Plungers or to provide inspirational thoughts to make sure those taking the Plunge don’t get “cold feet.” Most importantly, Argo Tea hopes people take time to applaud and admire those participating in this year’s Special Olympics.

“At Argo Tea, we take ice seriously. We’re excited to see thousands of people dunk their bodies in the frozen lake for a fantastic and deserving cause – and I’m excited to do it with them,” said Argo Tea Founder and CEO Arsen Avakian. “Supporting CommuniTEA and ChariTEA are Argo Tea’s core values. We are committed to making a local and global difference.”

As a Chicago-based company, Argo Tea applauds Mayor Rahm Emanuel in baiting the newly anointed “Swimmy Fallon” to celebrate and draw attention to the efforts of Special Olympics Chicago.

Argo Tea urges its neighbors and fellow Chicagoans to join the cause, put on their wet suits – or, if you’re Jimmy Fallon, your suit and tie – and raise money on behalf of the amazing athletes of Special Olympics Chicago.
