24-Year-Old Man Died in Tuesday Motorcycle Wreck: Police

Paramedics found El-Jabali Baha showing no signs of life Tuesday morning. Investigators determined he struck a fire hydrant near 105th Place and Lavergne Avenue and crashed

An autopsy is scheduled for a 24-year-old Alsip man who died Tuesday morning after his motorcycle crashed near an Oak Lawn home.

El-Jabali Baha, 24, of the 12400 block of South Keeler, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 10500 block of Lavergne Avenue. Police said his body was found near the front porch of a house.

The autopsy is set for Tuesday at the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

At about 3:18 a.m., a resident called 911 to report motorcycle debris spread on the road near the intersection of 105th Place and Lavergne Avenue. Oak Lawn paramedics found Baha unresponsive and showing no signs of life. His damaged motorcycle was lying nearby in the driveway.

Oak Lawn police's crash reconstruction team determined Baha was riding the 1998 Suzuki west on 105th Place and passed Lavergne Avenue, when he struck a fire hydrant and a tree. He landed near the front porch and died at the scene.

Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

A neighbor told police the crash could be heard at about 2:37 a.m. but wasn't visible when the neighbor looked outside.

Anyone with information about traffic crash is asked to contact the Oak Lawn Police traffic unit at 708-499-7789.
