Items Stolen from Garage

A homeowner reported several items stolen from her garage in the 10300 block of South Kostner Avenue sometime before 12:26 p.m.

The homeowner said upon arriving home, she found her overhead garage door open. She reported a Sony PlayStation, a drill and lawn mower missing.

According to the report, the homeowner found two louvered windowpanes and the screen removed from the garage window. Before officers arrived, she put the panes and screen back on the window.

Police said the exterior side of the glass showed no signs of tampering, and that dust and spider webs on the window appeared undisturbed. No signs of forced entry were reported.

 

SATURDAY AUGUST 31

 

Yelling Obscenities at Passing Motorists

 

Police cited Gary Johns, 26, for disorderly conduct when they noticed him allegedly throwing up Latin King gang signs and yelling obscenities at passing motorists and pedestrians in the 9500 block of South Pulaski around 6:24 p.m. Police said that Johns is a known gang member who lives in the 9700 block of South Cicero Avenue. Johns has a hearing on Sept. 17 at Oak Lawn Village Hall.

 

FRIDAY AUGUST 30

 

Quarters, Two-Dollar Bills Heisted

 

A homeowner left her residence in the 9700 block of South 54th Avenue around 7 a.m., only to return home in the early evening to find money missing from her home. Police said she noticed a jar of quarters missing from the kitchen. She claimed that burglars also stole a can of $2 bills. Nothing else was missing from the house and there were no signs of forced entry. She did not want police inside her home due to a recent death in the family.
