Armed Robbery Nets $700 from Senior Citizen

Elderly victim thinks robbers stuck a gun in his back, police say.

Oak Lawn Police are searching for a pair of men that robbed a senior citizen after he stepped off a bus and forced him to lie on the ground while they took his money, reports said.

Police were dispatched to a restaurant in the 4000 block of West 95th Street around 10 p.m. Feb. 4 for a report of a street robbery.

The 69-year-old victim told police he had just left the Pace bus at 94th Street and Pulaski and was walking northwest when he was approached from behind by two men.

One of the men stuck what the victim through to be a gun in his back and ordered him to get on the ground, reports said.

The two ordered the senior not to move or look at them, or they would shoot him. Police said the senior closed his eyes and never attempted to look at the men as they went through his pockets and helped themselves to $700 cash.

He did not know where the men came from or which direction they were headed. Police said the senior citizen walked to a restaurant where he called 911 approximately 20 minutes after the robbery.

During his conversation with police, the senior complained of chest pains and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

Police checked surveillance video at Jewel but did not see anything. The senior was unable to provide a description of the suspects.
