Stolen Car Recovered After Police Chase

A stolen 1994 Buick used in an armed robbery in Chicago Ridge was recovered after it crashed into an Oak Lawn police car during a police chase.

Police went to speak to the 64-year-old owner whose car was recovered around 12:58 a.m. Dec. 28. The owner said he did not give anyone permission to drive it, reports said.

Police said that Anthony L. Armour, 24, of Chicago, used the car to commit an armed robbery in Chicago Ridge. Armour crashed the stolen vehicle into a village police car on the 9500 block of South Meade Avenue while being pursued by Chicago Ridge and Oak Lawn police.

Armour was taken into custody after a brief foot chase, reports said.

The car owner told police that he left his car parked unlocked on his driveway on Dec. 27 before going to bed around 9:30 p.m. He wasn't sure if the car was still there.

According to the report, the owner said the car had been stolen a few years ago but was recovered. The owner said he would press charges and was in contact with Chicago Ridge police.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 18

Intruders Steal Man’s Meds and Money

A 53-year-old man was pistol-whipped by two masked men who burst into his home on the 9000 block of South Cicero Avenue. Oak Lawn Police said the man’s neighbor called police when the doorbell woke her up around 10:45 p.m. Seeing a bloodied man standing on her porch she shut her door until she heard him yell that it was her neighbor from across the street.

Police found blood on the man’s front door and inside his trailer. Around 10:30 p.m. he answered a knock on his door. When he opened the interior door a masked male rushed in and pistol-whipped him with the butt of a 40-caliber pistol, reports said. He tried to fight back but was hit several more times with the gun. The man said a second masked subject entered, who he believed to be female from speaking to the male intruder.

Police said the masked male asked him, “where’s your money, where’s your safe?” As the man fought with the intruder, police said he might have seen blond hair under mask. The masked female found the man’s wallet and took $1,200 cash out of it. She also picked up the small safe containing the man’s medication on the living room floor, police said.

The intruders left with the man’s cell phone and money, but did not take the safe key.

The man received medical treatment on the scene but did not want to go to the hospital.

He told police he didn’t know who the intruders were. Many people know he had a safe because he kept it under a table in his living room and it was easily seen.
