No Foul Play with Body Found in Oak Lawn Park: Police (Update)

The body of a 56-year-old Hometown man was discovered in Lewandowski Park near 87th and Laporte in Oak Lawn Tuesday morning.

No signs of foul play were found on a body discovered near a bench in Lewandowski Park Tuesday morning, police said.

The 56-year-old Hometown man appears to have been out walking shortly before his death, Oak Lawn police said.

Officers and paramedics responded to a call at about 8:48 a.m. about an unresponsive man in the 8700 block of 49th Court, police said. He was transported to the Cook County medical examiner less than two hours later.

An autopsy on the man is scheduled for Wednesday, according to the medical examiner's officer.

A dead body was found in Lewandowski Park Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The body was located near a bench in the park, which is located at 87th and Laporte, behind Fairplay. Oak Lawn police are on the scene.

Passersby and Oak Lawn Patch Facebook fans noted what appeared to be a body covered by a white sheet, with heavy police activity and one lane of traffic shut down near the park Tuesday around 9 a.m.

No further information is available.
