Bye, Bye Birdseed

Police warn man about reckless driving and feeding pigeons.

A village employee called police to report that a car driven by an older man had almost hit him on the 6200 block of West 95th Street around 7:17 a.m. Feb. 10. The driver was distracted because he was driving on the wrong side of 95th Street and throwing birdseed out the car window, the employee said.

According to Oak Lawn police, the employee was familiar with the man from previous incidents involving bird feeding and was concerned that it was becoming a problem again. The employee told police the village had cited the man before for raising pigeons at home.

The village employee took a picture of the man with his cell phone and gave it to police. When police went to the man’s house, they found him asleep in his car and bags of birdseed in the back seat.
