CRIME ALERT: Police Ask Residents to Stay Indoors Until Notified

Emergency notification system activated for Oak Lawn residents.

Oak Lawn's emergency notification system was activated at 3:07 p.m. Saturday with the following message: "S. Crime Alert: Requesting all residents to remain indoors until you are further notified when it is clear to resume your normal routine."

Police scanner chatter says there is activity near 109th Street and Pulaski Road.

A reader on Facebook said that police are surrounding a bank at 111th Street and Pulaski Road. About 20 squads from Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park and Chicago are in the area. We have no police confirmation.

Another reader told Patch that shoppers are not being allowed to leave Freshline Market on 95th Street.
