Dead Baby Found in Cooler at Chicago Ridge Recycling Center

Police are investigating the body of a baby boy discovered Wednesday morning among trash picked up by a recycling truck.

A dead infant was found inside a cooler at a Chicago Ridge recycling center Wednesday morning.

Crews sorting through the recycling materials found the baby boy in a blanket after opening the cooler, ABC7 Chicago reports. The load off the truck, which picks up trash in Wisconsin and northern Illinois, came to the Chicago Ridge center on Tuesday.

The body was found just after 4 a.m.

The Cook County medical examiner was called to the RCM Recycle Center, FOX Chicago reports. Chicago Ridge police are working with departments in Wisconsin and Waukegan as part of their investigation.

Check back with Patch as more details become available.

My God, what is wrong with this world. Hope they find the person who did that and torture and slowly kill that person, and do it in public and televise it so the whole world could see it, so that people will think twice before doing such a cannibal act.

Horrible yes! Worse would be hearing how parents beat, abused and then dumped. Just because you can have babies doesn't mean you should. Blessed Be little guy!

How awful! There are so many couples that can't have children and are waiting to grow their families through adoption. Contact an adoption agency if you are choosing not to keep your baby. They will help you. We adopted a beautiful little girl almost 8 years ago. She is the love of our life. This little boy could have been the love of someone's life too! So sad!

This poor little baby got tossed out like common garbage. The true garbage are the animals that did this to him. Scum like this deserve everything coming to them. I hope you are caught soon, cause you will be caught, and you suffer horrendously for the inconspicable act that you did. This makes me physically sick to my stomach!

May God wrap his arms around this little boy. Then he can send the responsible people (mother, father, mother's boyfriend, guardian or whoever) straight to hell. Also, I'll make more comments when I have an update.

This was gut-wrenching to read, but God protected this little angel and took him home. May God have mercy on the wretched soul who committed this reprehensible evil.

Has anybody heard an update on this sad story?

There will be a funeral for the baby on Thursday May 16th (11:30 p.m.) at Our Lady of the Ridge in Chicago Ridge. The Police Department has named the baby and worked with an organzation called Rest In His Arms to insure a proper burial. This is a difficult cast to solve and according to Rest in His Arms there are nearly 20 babies per year that face these tragic deaths.
