One Person Hospitalized After Oak Lawn House Fire
The fire started on the second floor of a home in the 10000 block of 53rd Avenue Friday morning.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of a fire that broke out on the second floor of a home in the 10000 block of 53rd Avenue early Friday, Aug. 3.
The call for the one-alarm blaze went out around 8:11 a.m. The fire was extinguished in about five minutes by units from Oak Lawn and Chicago Ridge, said Battalion Chief Mike Jensen.
Jensen said the homeowner was rescued from the home and taken to an area hospital, but declined to give the condition of the homeowner or the name of the hospital.

A police officer was first on scene, he said. Other units responded and "we got all the help we needed," he added.
"Luckily, [the fire] was contained to the second floor," Jensen said. "If it had started in the basement and worked its way up, we'd have been in real trouble."
