Fugitive Who Jumped Off Balcony Deemed ‘Armed and Dangerous,’ Cops Say

Oak Lawn man charged with resisting arrest after ignoring orders to open door, has active warrant in Cook County, police said.

Oak Lawn Police arrested a man on an outstanding warrant after he leaped off a second-story balcony at an apartment building following threats made to a resident, reports said.

Louis Francis Perri, 29, of the 9600 block of South Ridgeland Avenue, was charged with resisting arrest on June 29. He was also wanted on a warrant out of Cook County for violating the terms of his conditional release from jail.

While on their way to an apartment building in the 6400 block of West 95th Place around 2:23 a.m., police were advised that Perri had jumped off the second story balcony, reports said.

Police said another officer noticed a man matching Perri’s description walking through a field toward Simmons Middle School.

Later that afternoon, around 12:34 p.m., police went back to the 95th Place address, in response to threatening text messages allegedly made by Perri to the caller.

Police learned that Perri lived in another apartment building in the 9600 block of South Ridgeland Avenue. A computer check also revealed that Perri had an active warrant deeming him “armed and dangerous,” reports said.

Neighbors tipped off police that Perri had just walked into the building. Police rang Perri’s unit, who leaned into the hallway and waved the officer over, police said.

Additional police units began arriving, as the officer ordered Perri to come out of his apartment 14 times, according to reports.

Police broke the door down and took Perri, who was standing to the side of the front door, into custody an hour later.

According to police, Perri was apologetic, saying that he was “scared.” He was taken to the Oak Lawn police station, where he was charged with resisting arrest. At the time of the report, Perri was awaiting a bond hearing.
