Man Charged for Criminal Trespassing at Library

Police: Man thought ban from library applied only to last year.

A man who was banned last year from returning to the Oak Lawn Public Library, 9427 S. Raymond Ave., was charged with criminal trespassing when library staff reported he returned the morning of Jan. 12, according to an Oak Lawn police report.

Kevin A. Mascola, 56, of the 9000 block of South Ridgeland Avenue, was charged with criminal trespassing. He has a Feb. 10 court date at the Bridgeview courthouse.

An employee provided police with a letter dated April 20, 2010, that was addressed to Mascola, telling him not to come back to the library.

Police searched the library until they found Mascola sitting at a table on the second floor. When cops asked him if he was aware that he had been permanently banned, Mascola responded, “Yeah, but that was last year,” police said.

Mascola told police he was inside the library getting warm because he had the flu. Police told him he was trespassing and took him into custody, according to the police report.
