Man on Mountain Bike Cited for Possession of Syringes, Violating Traffic Laws

Police stop man after they saw him toss object into street, reports say.

A man riding erratically through the streets on a mountain bike was pulled over by after they saw him toss a white object into the street, reports said.

Bryon D. Stiemann, 28, of the 10000 block of South 53rd Avenue was issued village citations for possession of hypodermic needs and syringes, and violating village traffic laws while operating a bike on Sept. 22.

Police said they spotted Stiemann around 2:20 p.m. making numerous turns on his bike without signaling and ignoring stop sides. Officers said they saw Stiemann toss something next to a parked car on the 5000 block of Columbus Drive.

The officer retrieved the item and discovered that it was two hypodermic syringes wrapped in toilet paper, reports said.

While speak to Stiemann, police said there were numerous track marks on the man’s arms. Reports said that Stiemann is a known heroin user and told police that he started using again.

Stiemann was taken into custody and issued the village citations. He is to appear in at village hall on Oct. 18.
