Man's Ear Bitten Off in Domestic Dispute, Cops Say
Cops say Justice man leaned in and bit off piece of victim's ear in domestic dispute.
A 28-year-old Justice man bit a piece of another man’s ear off during a domestic dispute, authorities said.
Richard Vody of the 7800 block of Garden Lane, was charged with home invasion, aggravated battery and domestic battery. Vody is currently out of jail on a $250,000 bond.
Cook County Sheriff’s Police received a call about 8:45 a.m. Friday for a domestic battery in the 200 block of Walnut in unincorporated Justice. Officers said that Vody was found at the scene, along with the 26-year-old victim from Westchester, and the victim’s girlfriend, who lived at the residence.

Authorities said all three knew each other.
Vody forced his way into the residence. After arguing with the victim, Vody leaned into the victim and bit off about half of his right ear, officers said.

Roberts Park firefighters arrived and brought the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police canines were able to locate the missing piece of the victim’s ear the next day near the residence.
Vody’s next court appearance is April 23.
