Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Metra Train Near Chicago Ridge Station UPDATE

A pedestrian was hit by a Metra train in Chicago Ridge

UPDATE - 10:28 p.m. Thursday -- Chicago Ridge and Metra police are conducting a death investigation after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a Southwest line commuter train Thursday evening.

An official from the Cook County Medical Examiner's office and police were walking the tracks and shining flashlights along the perimeter of the tracks after dark.

The gender and age of the person killed was not being released.

Original story -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metra train Thursday evening blocks away from the Chicago Ridge station. 

At about 6:15 p.m. the train hit a pedestrian near 101st Street and Moody Avenue in Chicago Ridge. The accident scene is about three blocks from the Chicago Ridge Metra Station. 
 
Six Metra police vehicles are on the scene where body parts have been covered with white sheets. 

Passengers on the five-car train were given the option to disembark and were given rides to their destinations.
