Oak Lawn Fire Leaves Home Uninhabitable

Five fire departments respond to blaze that caused between $50,000 and $75,000 worth of damage to Oak Lawn home.

A fire ripped through a home in the 6200 block of West 92nd Place in Oak Lawn early this afternoon, according to a news release from the Oak Lawn Fire Department.

The fire department responded to the call at 12:24 p.m., and upon arrival found smoke and fire in the attic. The residents of the home were not in the house when fire crews arrived on the scene and there were no reported injuries.

The fire caused $50,000 to $75,000 in damage to the home and left it uninhabitable.

Because of the extreme heat during the fire, five neighboring fire departments were called in to help battle the blaze.

It took fire crews 20 to 30 minutes to extinguish the fire, which is suspected to have been electrical in nature.
