Oak Lawn Woman Dies of Hypothermia

Neighbor found 86-year-old woman in the snow and tried to revive her Tuesday night.

An 86-year-old Oak Lawn woman died of hypothermia this week after she was found outside her South Meade Avenue home in the snow.

The Cook County medical examiner said heart disease and dementia were contributing factors in the death of Antoinette Diesness, who was found by a neighbor who tried to resuscitate her. She was taken to Christ Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 12:11 a.m. Wednesday.

The Tribune reports that she's at least the 17th person in Cook County to die from cold-related causes during this winter of record-setting cold temperatures and wind chill.
