Officials Investigate 92nd Street House Fire

No one was injured in the early Saturday morning fire.

Oak Lawn fire officials are looking into the cause of an overnight fire that burned a 92nd Street home.

A woman was home when the house caught fire, but was able to escape unharmed, said Oak Lawn Fire Department Capt. Scott Sobol. A neighbor had helped the woman get out through a window.

Firefighters were called shortly after midnight to a house in the 4900 block of West 92nd Street and, initially, were told two other people besides the woman were inside. Fire crews later determined that the two people thought to be inside were not at home.

The fire caused "heavy damage" to both the house and content, Sobol said. A damage estimate was not immediately available.

Investigators were still on the scene Saturday morning, trying to determine the cause. Initial findings pointed to a source in the rear of the home.
