Ohio Prostitute Accused of Killing Al Filan

A 20-year-old woman is being held in on first-degree murder in the death of Al Filan.

An Ohio woman was accused of stabbing and killing Brother Rice teacher and Orland Park resident Al Filan.

Alisha M. Walker, 20, of the 1700 block of Leighton Avenue in Akron, Ohio, was charged Saturday with first degree murder, and is being held without bail. Walker, who has prior arrests for drugs, battery and prostitution, was caught around 12:30 a.m. Friday in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area and is being held in the Allen County Jail until she will be extradited to Illinois to face charges, according to a release from the Orland Park Police Department.

Walker confessed to being at Filan’s house on Saturday, Jan. 18, after Filan had contacted her through an Internet classifieds site called Backpage, according to the release. The two had met at least two other times, police said.

While at Filan’s home on Jan. 18, Walker and Filan argued over money, police said. The argument escalated into a struggle, and Walker stabbed Filan several times, before fleeing the area in her vehicle, according to police.

Police were called to Filan’s home, where he lived alone, in the 9400 block of Georgetown Square Tuesday morning, when he didn’t show up to teach at Brother Rice High School that day. Officers found him dead on his kitchen floor, and the Cook County Medical Examiner ruled his death was caused by multiple stab and incise wounds.
