Police Blotter: Bicyclist Steals GPS from Car

Bicycle Thief

Someone riding a bike apparently burglarized a car that was parked in a driveway on the 9200 block of South Kedvale Avenue sometime before 9:30 a.m. Police observed a single set of bike tire prints in the snow on every driveway in which a car was parked, reports said. Evergreen Park police also had a rash of car burglaries at which tire and boot impressions were found. The thief got away with a GPS valued at $300, according to the report.

Ford Flees

A 44-year-old man came to the Oak Lawn Police Department lobby to report that his 2002 Ford truck was stolen from his driveway on the 8700 block of South 55th Court sometime before 11:30 a.m. The owner told police he had left town on Feb. 20, and he said several friends know that he keeps a spare set of keys under the driver’s seat. Police entered the truck in leads as stolen.

Cash and Paperwork Missing from Car

The owner of a Ford Escape told police that items were moved around inside his Ford Escape that was parked on a driveway on the 7000 block of West 96th Place. Approximately $2 in cash and miscellaneous paperwork were taken from the glovebox sometime before 8 a.m. The owner expressed concern because the paperwork included credit card receipts. Police followed two sets of  shoe prints left in the snow leading westbound from the driveway toward the railroad tracks and into Chicago Ridge, at which point the prints no longer could be followed.

Nothing Is Sacred

The owner of car parked in a driveway on the 7000 block of West 96th Street noticed something amiss when she found one of her own CDs on the front lawn around 8:30 a.m. The thief got away with five CDs, two copies of "The Passion of the Christ", a radio faceplate and the owner’s proof of insurance. The car had been left unlocked.
