Burglars Use Ornamental Rock to Smash Door
Burglars used an ornamental rock to break into Amerimex service station at 9600 Southwest Highway. The owner discovered the break-in when he showed up for work around 8:04 a.m. Police said that glass sections of the front entry door had been broken out around the doorknob. It is believed the burglars reached in and unlocked the door from the inside. An ornamental rock had been moved from its usual position outside the shop, the owner said.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 12
Cash Register Carried
Someone walked off with a cash register containing $10 from Interstate Muffler at 4800 W. 111th St. sometime before 8:31 a.m. Police said the burglars kicked in the front door. The manager said the alarm system was armed when he arrived for work and does not know why it didn’t go off.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 11
Lug Nuts Stolen
Someone removed all of the lug nuts from the tires of a Dodge Challenger parked in a lot in the 9700 block of South Pulaski Road sometime before 11:10 p.m. The owner told police she met a man about a month ago but ended contact with him via a text stating that she didn’t want to see him anymore. Police said she received a text back from him, which said, “OK,” after she had ignored several of his previous texts. Police are looking into it and she will press charges, if necessary.
