POLICE BLOTTER: Burglars Hit Auto Shops, Love Gone Awry

Oak Lawn police reports, Jan. 11 to Jan. 14.

MONDAY, JANUARY 14

Burglars Use Ornamental Rock to Smash Door

Burglars used an ornamental rock to break into Amerimex service station at 9600 Southwest Highway. The owner discovered the break-in when he showed up for work around 8:04 a.m. Police said that glass sections of the front entry door had been broken out around the doorknob. It is believed the burglars reached in and unlocked the door from the inside. An ornamental rock had been moved from its usual position outside the shop, the owner said.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 12

Cash Register Carried

Someone walked off with a cash register containing $10 from Interstate Muffler at 4800 W. 111th St. sometime before 8:31 a.m. Police said the burglars kicked in the front door. The manager said the alarm system was armed when he arrived for work and does not know why it didn’t go off.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 11

Lug Nuts Stolen

Someone removed all of the lug nuts from the tires of a Dodge Challenger parked in a lot in the 9700 block of South Pulaski Road sometime before 11:10 p.m. The owner told police she met a man about a month ago but ended contact with him via a text stating that she didn’t want to see him anymore. Police said she received a text back from him, which said, “OK,” after she had ignored several of his previous texts. Police are looking into it and she will press charges, if necessary.

We need more police patroling and walking the streets. This is ridiculous with all the crime out there. Our nation is falling apart. Obama needs to worry about the crime instead of his obamacare thing. He is so focussed on that. He hasn't worried about the real issue. He bails out the banks and car manufacturers and gives nothing to the police and fire departments. MORE POLICE PLEASE!!!!

Re: Mother 24's final comment on food handlers hand washing, is there an ordinance requiring hotRead More water in restrooms.? Many have only cold water in both faucets or verrrryyyy slow to respond hot water faucets. This should be a point of inspection for the health inspector (s.) Phinnigin

Re:Phinnigin. I agree!! Most establishments do not have hot water in the restrooms!!! However, whyRead More can't restaurants install hand sanitizer behind the counter? The Popeye's in Burbank has a hand sanitizer installed behind the counter, but honestly, the employees hardly ever use it, which is why, after a horrible experience at that location last July, I have not patronized ANY Popeye's since!!!
