Bullets Over Cicero

Two Cicero Avenue businesses reported finding bullet holes in their windows. An employee at a medical building in the 10500 block of South Cicero said the pharmacy’s windows had been shot and that bullets were still on the scene. The employee told police he came to the office and noticed damage to a hallway wall around 2:19 p.m. He observed what he believed to be a bullet fragment on the floor. He then saw that the east window facing Cicero Avenue had a bullet hole in it. The employee checked other windows in the office and found another window with a bullet hole. The second bullet traveled through the window and went through a glass door before striking the wall. Police said the employee does not know who would have shot at the office building. The office was last secured at midnight. A liquor store on Cicero Avenue also reported numerous windows damaged by bullets.

Over the Counter, Through the Gums

A man was charged with retail theft after he allegedly jumped over the counter at Jewel Osco at 4650 W. 103 St. where small bottles of liquor were kept and began drinking alcohol in the store, reports said. Police responded to a call of a shoplifter around 12:15 p.m. and located a man identified as Kevin Mueller, 28, of Chicago Ridge. According to police, Mueller was “extremely intoxicated.” The store manager alleged that Mueller selected a .375 ml bottle of Captain Morgan rum and began drinking directly from it. Police said that Mueller refused to stop drinking and had no money to pay for it. He was charged with retail theft and has a court appearance on May 22 in Bridgeview. The total loss of the rum is $10.74.
