Police Blotter: DUI, Damaged Property and a Busted House Party

Oak Lawn police reports, Aug. 16-23.

WENDESDAY, AUG. 23.

Car Keyed on 91st Street

Somone put two deep scratches on a car that was parked on the 5200 block of West 91st Street sometime before 10 a.m. Aug 23. The owner estimates damages at $500. 

Cicero Tire Slashing

Police received a report of criminal damage to property at 6:25 p.m. Aug. 23, in the 9700 block of S. Cicero Ave. According to the report, the property owner told officers that the night before someone slashed all four tires on his car.

TUESDAY, AUG. 22.

Break In, But No Robbery

On Aug. 22 at 3:31 a.m., police responded to an alarm going off at a local business. Arriving at T&A Mobile, 10240 S. Pulaski Road, officers found the front door of the business shattered, but no suspects inside the business. According to police, the owners arrived at the scene and said nothing appeared to be missing. Police combed the scene for evidence before leaving.

Graffitti at Skate Park

Oak Lawn Park District maintenance members reported fresh blue spray paint on a ramp at the Sullivan Skate Park at 99th Street and Kostner Avenu around 7:17 a.m. According to the report, the paint appeared to be somebody's initials and not gang related. A park district maintenance member told officers the graffiti would be removed, possibly with a high pressure washer. No charges were filed.

SUNDAY, AUG. 20

Chicago Man Charged With DUI

While on patrol, officers saw a car change lanes without signaling and began following the car shortly after midnight. While following the car officers said the driver made another traffic violation and then pulled the car over in the Kmart parking lot at 4799 W. 110th St.

The report said officers spoke with the driver, Patrick M. Walsh, 25, of the 8500 block of S. Kilpatrick Ave. in Chicago, who told them he had too much to drink. Officers said that during the stop Walsh submitted to standard field sobriety tests, which he failed.

Walsh was taken to the Oak Lawn Police station and blew a .196, the report said. He was charged with DUI, blood-and-alcohol content over .08, improper lane use, no seat belt and changing lanes without signaling. Walsh is scheduled to appear in court on Sept 12 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

TUESDAY, AUG. 16

Weapons Charges

Police were called to Oak Lawn Communications due to a man causing a disturbance inside the business. By the time police arrived at the business, the man had already left and police began searching for him.

Police found the man, Ricardo Rodriguez, 32, of the 8100 block of S. Tripp Ave. in Chicago, in the 9400 block of S. Central Ave. While speaking with the officers Rodriguez admitted to having a blackjack and several knives on his person, the report said.

After being secured, officers confiscated the knives and blackjack and charged him with unlawful use of a weapon. Rodriguez was taken to the Oak Lawn police station and given a court date of Sept. 26 at the Bridgeview Court House.

House Party Broken Up

Police arrested an Oak Lawn resident on charges that she hosted an underage drinking party on Aug. 16. According to the report, police found beer bottles, open bottles of vodka and cups filled with alcohol all around the home, which had several people under the age of 21 present.

Police went to the house on the 9700 block of S. Natoma Ave. at 10:52 p.m. Officers said they found six to seven underage youths within an arm's reach of alcoholic beverages.

According to the report, police found Kathy L. Osmoloski, 44, who lives at the home, to be intoxicated. Police said Osmoloski admitted to being drunk and letting the minors drink alcohol in her home.

Each of the minors denied drinking alcohol and were then told to call their parents or guardians for a ride home.

Officers charged Osmolski with a village ordinance violation for keeping a disorderly house. She is scheduled to appear at the Oak Lawn Village hall on Sept. 20.
