POLICE BLOTTER: Gift Shop Theft, Meter Reader Threatened

Oak Lawn police reports, May 4 through May 8.

TUESDAY MAY 8

Woman Cited for Taking Purse From Hospital Gift Shop

A 61-year-old woman with no prior arrests was charged with retail theft after she allegedly took a purse from Lori’s Gifts at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Police were called to the medical center on May 8 after an employee told the gift shop manager that she had witnessed a customer removing a tan purse from a table and walking out the door without paying for it. The woman returned to the shop around 11:40 a.m. carrying the purse, reports said. Because she had no prior criminal history, police ticketed Barbara J. Klocek, 61, of Chicago, with a village citation for retail theft. Police said she had no problem turning the purse over to the manager. Police told Klocek that she was no longer welcome in the gift shop.
