‘Old School Banger’
An emergency room nurse at Advocate Christ Medical Center called police to report a 48-year-old homeless man had walked into the ER with a stab wound around 11 p.m. The nurse said the man was sleeping in an alley somewhere in Oak Lawn when a Latin King gang member stabbed him in the left side of his chest. Police said the man was uncooperative and intoxicated. The man said he was an “old school banger” from Humboldt Park and was stabbed by an Oak Lawn gang member. He would not tell police where in Oak Lawn he was attacked. He refused photos to be taken of his stab wound and told police he didn’t want them involved. The nurse described the man’s stab wound as “non-life threatening.”
