Stop Selling Gold

Police went to a jewelry store at 6615 W. 95th St. in response to a complaint made to the village manager about obsolete signs that did not match the business owner’s village business license. Police said the Sam Tabascio, 48, of Lombard, provided a valid business license with the name “Oak Lawn Jewelry and Appraisal Depot.” Signs with the store’s old name, “Cash for Gold,” were still illuminated outside the store. The awning also had the store’s old name. An attempt had been made the business owner to cover the obsolete sign with a banner promoting the store’s new name, police said. Information provided by the voice mail said the owner has been warned verbally and in writing that the signs had to be removed by Jan. 6. The owner denied that the village manager’s office had informed him about the signs, police said.
