Retail Theft
A loss prevention officer at Jewel Food Store, 8801 S. Ridgeland Ave., told police he saw a woman allegedly select two 24-oz. cans of Steel Reserve malt liquor and walk out of the store without paying for them around 6 p.m. Police charged Margaret H. Bake, 30, of the 6400 block of West 87th Place with retail theft. She was cited with a village ordinance violation and given a hearing date at Oak Lawn Village Hall on April 17. The malt liquor was valued at $2.82.
Dumpster Diving Leads to Warrant Arrest
Police spotted a Dodge parked in a lot on the 5500 block of West 110th Street and noticed two men digging through an open Dumpster around 10 a.m. After advising both men of a village ordinance on scrap collecting, police said that a name check revealed one of the men was wanted on an active arrest warrant. Steven R. Vraney, 38, of Chicago, was taken into custody and held for Downers Grove police on a warrant for retail theft.

‘Snap, Crackle and Baloney’
An 18-year-old man told police that sometime between 11:30 p.m. and midnight, someone slimed the outside of his car with pieces of baloney, apple sauce, whipped cream, Rice Crispies and corn flakes on the 6500 block of West 91st Street. He has no idea who would do that to him.
